Want a well-qualified work force?

Smarter Builder helps building companies get their staff through the NVQ process. They needed a database to keep track of candidates, assessors, qualifications and payments which we developed for them.

We started with our NVQ tracking program but modified it to deal more easily with large numbers of candidates and Smarter Builder’s system for getting the best qualifications out of each individual’s experience.

SBNVQ stores it’s data in a SQL database with a front-end written in Visual Basic.

We have also written an add-in to SBNVQ that lets assessors record digital photos, video, scanned documents and audio clips to build up an electronic portfolio so the candidate can have all his portfolio on a CD.

Too many meetings?

That was the problem at Bath and North East Somerset Council. With 70 councillors on 30 committees and with meetings every day, they needed a way to schedule regular and ad-hoc meetings and to send the meeting invitations to Outlook. So they asked us to create COCOA.

Information in an old database?

The University of London Directory of Leavers of Higher Education kept records of graduates in a Dataease database. We re-wrote it as an Access database, together with our own text file import wizards and an automatic backup system.
